How To Understand Homicide and Racism
I am not surprised that New Jersey still has racism, white supremacy, the KKK, and segregated funeral homes and cemeteries that push bigotry. In New Jersey, these ignorant individuals are covert racists rather than blatant ones. It is ignorant to hate people for the color of their skin. These racist people go around claiming to be godly and reading the Bible, yet they spread the poison of hate. They don't reflect God's traits, because God is love and peace. The traits these racist individuals uphold are wicked darkness and hatred with evil venom. Supporting the Confederate flag, which represents the hatred of Black people, slavery, and white supremacy, and using it to intimidate Black people is disgusting. These racist people have become bolder since there has been a president who condones this behavior without repercussions. However, I am not surprised, considering that New Jersey was the last Northern state to abolish slavery.
A quick historical note: New Jersey was indeed the last Northern state to pass a gradual abolition act (in 1804, with remnants of slavery lingering for decades until the 13th Amendment), though it wasn't the absolute last state in the entire U.S. to do so.
