Kanye West Calls Cardi B a ' Industry Plant' That Took Nicki Minaj's Spot
The Grammy Award winner claimed that his comments could endanger him, but he believed his high-profile status would protect him from any harm. As we all know, Kanye West is widely recognized as the greatest hip-hop artist in the world. He is equally known for his controversial and outspoken nature. Recently, he has been speaking out about Cardi B, another controversial and outspoken rapper.
A leaked video surfaced in which Kanye alleged that Cardi B does not write her own lyrics and is merely an industry plant meant to replace Nicki Minaj, who had numerous feuds with other New York rappers like Lil' Kim and Remy Ma. Kanye also suggested that Cardi B's music is backed by powerful forces that ensure her songs get radio play and win music awards. He even went as far as to insinuate that Cardi B made a Faustian bargain with the Illuminati.
Kanye implied that Cardi B lacks the musical creative talent to sustain her successful music career and is primarily there to perpetuate ignorance through songs like "F**k Them and Get Some Money." According to Kanye, she has essentially replaced Nicki Minaj, a move orchestrated by industry insiders. He believes Cardi B is unaware of the true motives behind her rise to fame and perceives it as a blessing from the universe, a belief that Kanye vehemently disputes.
It's worth noting the irony in Kanye's comments about Cardi not writing her own raps, given that he has collaborated with various writers like Consequence, Rhymefest, and Cyhi The Prynce throughout his career. The idustry music writers do speak out whom they wrote for and Cardi B name must had came up in the conversation.
However, people can change. Just hours after the leaked footage emerged, Cardi shared an interview from 2022 in which Kanye expressed his love for her and his unwavering belief in her talents. Following this, Kanye and Cardi teamed up with Lil Durk for the 2022 single "Hot Sh*t."
In another leaked video, Kanye can be heard speaking with Scooter Braun about his desire to distance himself from "this G.O.O.D. Music situation." Kanye expressed his belief in his greatness and questioned his decision to give Daytona to Pusha T and KTSE to Teyana Taylor. He also criticized Nas for his off-beat performance on "Cops Shot the Kid," a track from their collaborative effort, "NASIR." Kanye felt frustrated, especially about Nas not informing him about the music video shoot.
Kanye acknowledged that he might be risking his safety with his candid remarks, but he believed his high-profile status would protect him. He expressed his intention to secure his publishing rights, exit his festival commitments, and end his association with Universal and Adidas.
